President’s Opinion
Central to our mission at ALAEA is assisting aircraft engineers in their every day work. To do that, it is important we understand what’s going on in your workplace.
To create a snapshot of aircraft engineering environments in 2010 we have distributed a survey to all members. The survey explores engineers’ working environments and the way that impactson productivity. Please complete this essential survey and return it to our office as soon as possible.
Election time for your ALAEA officials has come around. No matter how active you are in ourunion, I urge each and every one of you to cast a vote in the election mid-May.
As in every election – whether union, local council or federal government – voting is yourdemocratic right. It’s your way to put your views forward and have your say about the waythings get done.
Take the opportunity to talk to your crew and area representatives about the union and your issues at work and be sure to cast your vote for whoever will best represent your interests. I’d like to thank all ALAEA members for your support over the last four years.
It’s been a pleasure to serve as President and I appreciate the opportunity to stand for the position again.
During the last four years I’ve done my best to work with the executive and membership in developing the union into a strong, cohesive unit. I’m proud of the presence the ALAEA now has standards across our industry.in our workplaces across Australia, and the work that we’ve done to consolidate and lift
I’d also like to thank members and representatives for the countless, often unrecognised hours put in to ALAEA work.
In the last four years we’ve achieved significant improvements, both industrially and technically, stepped up our important role as watchdog on the various aviation industry and regulatory authorities and negotiated many EBAs to improve working conditions and wages.
None of this could have been done without members’ input. I look forward to continuing to work with you into the future.
Keep safe, Paul Cousins, President
