As 2011 comes to an end and 2012 begins I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the festive season and urge you to take care during the holidays, as it is often a time when your guard may be down.

2011 has been another year where the ALAEA has performed strongly, which is a testament to the efforts of our members, representatives, office staff and the Federal Executive.

As an association built and sustained on the volunteer work of its members, and supported by full-time industry professionals, we can all be proud of our efforts, as once again we have maintained the high standards that we set as engineering professionals to live by.

We have seen many instances this year where our resolve to keep our eye on the ball has been tested, and it has been clearly evident that aviation management exists in two very stark forms: those who lead by example and those who don’t.

When we took ownership of the ALAEA in 2006 we did so on a platform of honesty, transparency and integrity. Five years on I believe we still hold true to those ideals.

Lastly I would like to thank so much all the families of the Executive who allow their husbands and fathers to uphold the standards and defend the rights of all members that are so very dear to us all.

I would especially like to thank my family Jackie, Rhys and Trent, who without their support, this position would have never been possible for me.
